Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Bhopal Development Authority (BDA) has contacted government departments, seeking suggestions regarding the proposed Bhopal Metropolitan Region.
In the meantime, it is also looking to rope in a consultant so that work can progress in a planned manner. A BDA officer said the consultant would oversee coordination in data collection and inputs from all stakeholders in the project.
The project will cover all announcements made by CM Mohan Yadav and suggestions given by departments such as the Public Works Department, Public Health Engineering, and Water Resources Department.
He added that government land would be identified in the metropolitan area. The region will cover 13 tehsils of five districts of the Bhopal division Bhopal, Vidisha, Sehore, Raisen, and Rajgarh. One nodal officer will be appointed in every district for coordination work.
The plan will have to be intricate, with an eye for detail where state highways pass, which industry can come up and where, where all Metro train facilities need to be extended, and so on.
While the proposed region is around 8,000 sq km, the state government is yet to take a final call and may extend it to 10,000 sq km. The Bhopal Metropolitan is being planned, keeping in mind the needs of the region by the year 2047.
Bhopal division Commissioner Sanjeev Singh may head another meeting of the Bhopal Metropolitan Region later this month.
