Why is National Cheesecake Day celebrated?

Established in 1985, National Cheesecake Day is a holiday that didn't really gain fame until 2001, when the power of the internet revived its soul.

However, the dessert dates back to Greece, where ancient Greeks, around 200 A.D. and it is believed to be one of the first "sweets" in the world. Known as "plakous" it was made with crumbled cheese mixed with flour and honey and baked on a griddle. There is even evidence that the athletes in the first Olympic Games ate this dessert for energy.

Preheat your oven to 160°C and lightly grease a 9-inch cake tin. In a food processor, place your chosen biscuits and blend until they become crumbs. Now place these crumbs into a bowl and add melted butter and sugar to it. Mix well and pour the crumbs into the pan, then firmly press them to create an even layer. Bake the crust for 8 minutes and set aside to cool.
In a large bowl add room temperature cream cheese and mix until smooth. Add in all-purpose flour, sugar, sour cream, vanilla, lemon juice and salt and mix again. Finish off by adding two room-temperature eggs and combining them into the batter. Add the batter to the prebaked crust and bake for 75 minutes.

For many, blueberry cheesecake is the best flavour, with no accepted arguments. Well, here's how you can make a no-bake cheesecake at home. You will need 8 graham crackers, butter, sugar, whipping cream, cream cheese, white chocolate, vanilla extract, and lemon juice. Combine the graham cracker crumbs with melted butter and sugar, and press the crust into the bottom of a 9-inch pan and set it in the freezer for 20 minutes. Now, melt some white chocolate in a bowl and in another bowl, beat the heavy cream. Next, beat the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla and lemon juice and add the white chocolate and whipped cream. Now, add this batter to the pan with the crust. For the blueberry sauce, take some fresh blueberries, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla and cornstarch, cook till ready and then pour on top.

The ingredients for the chocolate cheesecake include chocolate sandwich cookies, chocolate, cream cheese, powdered sugar, butter, vanilla, sour cream, and heavy cream. Blend the cookies into fine crumbs with melted butter and press into a springform pan to make a crust. Melt the chocolate in a bowl and beat the cream cheese in another. Mix them together and add vanilla and powdered sugar. Whip the cream and some powdered sugar, and add it to the mixture. Now, layer this batter on top of the crust and leave it to chill in the freezer for at least 4 hours.

This is a quick, no-bake, five-ingredient recipe. You will need Lotus Biscoff cookies, butter, Lotus Biscoff cookie butter, cream cheese and powdered sugar. Crush up the Biscoff cookies with melted butter and press them into a greased baking pan to make a crust. Refrigerate this pan. In a mixer, add the Biscoff spread and cream cheese and mix together. Now add sugar and mix, and layer it on top of the crust. Then, pour the Biscoff spread over the cheesecake filling and top it with some whole Biscoff cookies.

Mix the butter with the cracker crumbs to make the crust and set it into a springform pan. In a mixing bowl, whip the cream cheese and add heavy cream, vanilla extract, sugar and some diced strawberries. Pour this mixture into the springform pan and chill for 4 hours, and enjoy.
