He was recently seen in The Taj Story.
Paresh Rawal once hit a man with a stone
During a chat on Raj Shamani's podcast, Paresh spoke about the episode that happened while he was performing the play Pratishodh. According to him, an audience member kept making vulgar remarks throughout the performance. Despite several warnings, the man didn’t stop. Frustrated, the actor stepped off the stage, followed the direction of the voice, and confronted the person. In a moment of anger, he struck the man on the head with a stone. The incident caused chaos in the theatre, and the show had to be stopped midway.
The actor recalled that the theatre owners were furious and decided to ban him from performing there again. He admitted that the play ended abruptly, and there was a lot of uproar from the crowd, but clarified that the situation didn’t spiral out of control because people around him intervened quickly.
Looking back, he still believes he wasn’t entirely wrong, saying the audience member showed no regret even after being hit. However, Paresh later visited the man’s home to apologise. The two eventually made peace and even became friends, though they never stayed in close touch.
Rawal also talked about what drives such outbursts. Speaking candidly, he said anger is often rooted in pain and helplessness rather than aggression. Sometimes, he explained, when someone constantly mocks or insults you, it triggers emotions that are hard to control. While he acknowledged that his response was wrong, he also maintained that he acted out of a sense of deep frustration rather than malice.
