New Delhi witnessed a fresh spell of rain on Wednesday morning, bringing brief relief from the humidity but also causing waterlogging in several parts of the city.

Areas such as Tughlak Road, Mandi House, Rakab Ganj, Rao Tula Ram Marg, India Gate, and the vicinity of the Indira Gandhi International Airport received moderate to heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Despite heavy rainfall near the airport, no disruptions to flight operations have reported so far. However, Akasa Air issued a travel adivsory to passengers alerting of the weather conditions.

"Due to heavy rainfall in certain parts of Mumbai and Delhi, we anticipate slow moving traffic and congestion on roads leading to the airport. To ensure a seamless travel experience, we request you to plan for additional travel time to reach the airport well in time for your flight," the airline said in a post on X.

A day earlier, IndiGo, SpiceJet and some other operators had also issued travel advisories in light of the weather.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain and thunderstorms over the next seven days. At 8:30 AM, the relative humidity in the city was recorded at 72%.

Waterlogging was reported in several low-lying areas, though traffic movement remained largely unaffected during early hours.

Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remained in the "moderate" category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 83, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The AQI scale classifies a reading between 51 and 100 as "satisfactory" and 101 to 200 as "moderate".

The IMD has advised residents to stay updated on local weather advisories and exercise caution in flood-prone zones as intermittent rainfall continues through the week.
