Sunil Narine dropped a sitter and gave Vijay Shankar a big life during the match between CSK and KKR at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in the . Shankar was facing just the second ball of the match and was on his way back to the pavilion. However, Narine's drop meant he fetched a couple of runs for himself and CSK.
Harshit Rana bowled a terrific delivery on a good length. The ball slightly took off and bounced a bit higher than the batter anticipated. The right-handed batter tried to guide the ball to the leg-side region. But the lack of pace on the ball meant it took the top edge of Shankar's willow.

For a moment, the star batter realized his outing for the night was done. However, he had a breather, as Narine failed to grab the ball. The KKR star was stationed right at the spot where the ball was about to land. All three veterans had to do was move a couple of steps behind to reach to the ball.

As a result, he ended up missing the ball, which not only handed Shankar a life, but also helped him and Rahul Tripathi to claim a couple of runs. Rana was disappointed but could do nothing about the dismissal.

KKR had a great start to their match against CSK with the ball. In the first 5 overs of the match, they had the home side at 18/2. No CSK batter was able to help their side get a move on. There was a lack of intent, and the surface was not the best to bat on.
Shankar and Tripathi tried their best to shift gears and were able to slightly help CSK to score enough. However, Varun Chakravarthy returned to his second spell and ensured Shankar's luck ran out. The mystery spinner took the wicket of the Tamil Nadu batter, who survived twice in the middle.
