Siliguri (West Bengal) [India], October 26 (ANI): In view of the present situation in Bangladesh, the Border Security Force and North Bengal Frontier has tightened the security arrangements along the Indo-Bangladesh border
The forces have taken special initiatives including in the riverine areas that fall under the International borders.
Speaking to the media, Suryakant Sharma, IG, BSF North Bengal Frontier, said the BSF has activated the intelligence wing along the border. The forces are on high alert to stop any infiltrations and migrations.
"We have our Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to closely monitor the situation and as per the law they take the necessary steps. The government is acting on the issue of activation of anti-India elements," he said.
India shares a 4,096km border with Bangladesh of which West Bengal shares 2,216. North Bengal frontier shares 936km of which 110km is unfenced.
Meanwhile, three hundred eighty-five new women constables of BSF took an oath to serve the country at the BSF Assistant Training Center in Baikunthapur, Siliguri on Saturday.
BSF North Bengal Frontier IG Suryakant Sharma administered the oath to them. During this time, he inspected the grand passing out parade presented by the new conservators. Apart from BSF officers and their families, other dignitaries were present on the occasion. (ANI)
