Jos Buttler is earning major praise from fans after his unbeaten 97* helped guide Gujarat Titans (GT) to victory over Delhi Capitals (DC). Social media lit up with admiration for the England star, with many calling his performance "selfless" due to the way he anchored the innings under pressure rather than chasing a personal milestone.

Delhi Capitals posted a total of 203 runs, setting a steep target for Gujarat Titans. GT needed 204 to win, and thanks to Buttler’s brilliant knock and Tewatia’s finishing touch, they chased it down with four balls remaining.

Jos Buttler's 97 powers Gujarat Titans to victory, but it's his 'selfless' gesture that won the internet

GT needed just 10 runs off the final over, with Jos Buttler, alreadt at 97 from 54 balls, was at the non-striker's end. As Mitchell Starc ran in, Rahul Tewatia, the new man at the crease, launched the very first delivery for a six, an ideal start for GT. On the second ball, he followed it up with a four, sealing the win in just two deliveries. What stood out, though, was Buttler’s reaction. Instead of showing any hint of disappointment at missing out on a century, he sprinted over from the non-striker’s end and wrapped Tewatia in a warm hug, applauding his quick-fire finish.

The moment has gone viral, with fans lauding Buttler’s sportsmanship and selflessness. Many pointed out that he could’ve easily asked for the strike to complete his hundred but chose instead to let the team close it out in the best way possible.

Fans call out Virat Kohli while praising Jos Buttler

Some have pointed out that Kohli could take a cue from Buttler’s selfless approach, subtly referencing recent instances where Kohli has been accused of playing for personal milestones over the team's needs.

One user wrote, "A selfless Jos Buttler celebrated Rahul Tewatia's match-winning finish like it was his own. Sorry, Jos, you can't be selfish Virat Kohli".

One took a sarcastic dig, writing, "Jos Buttler, you can never become Our King Kohli."
