Why Neto can't play for Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend

Summer signing Neto will not be in the Arsenal squad to face AFC Bournemouth because he is inelligible to face the South Coast club.

Neto joined on a season-long loan deal from the Cherries and this prevents him from featuring in any capacity this weekend. The 35-year-old was recently unable to feature for Arsenal in the when they hosted League One's Bolton Wanderers.

That time, Neto was unable to feature because he was cup tied having already played for Bournemouth in the second round defeat to West Ham United. When he was last unavailable for selection, Arteta took a chance on youth team goalkeeper Jack Porter who played the full 90 minutes as Arsenal ran out 5-1 winners against Bolton.

The 16-year-old could be turned to again on Saturday but this time as a backup with first choice goalkeeper likely to start. So far this season, Neto has been an unused substitute for four Premier League games and two Champions League matches.
