What Edu has been doing amid expected Arsenal exit as next job hint emerges and announcement due

Arsenal are expected to confirm the departure of sporting director Edu soon after reports emerged that he is set to join a rival Premier League club.

On Monday, reports first emerged from the Daily Mail that Edu was set to leave the Emirates Stadium for an unknown reason. Sky Sports have since reported that the sporting director is on the verge of joining Evangelos Marinakis' group of clubs which includes rivals Nottingham Forest.

There has yet to be any official confirmation from the Gunners that Edu is leaving but it is expected that this announcement will come soon. In the meantime, the 46-year-old has offered no hints that he would be about to jump ship from Arsenal.

On his Instagram, Edu has been continuing his normal day-to-day life by celebrating his friend Caio Mello's birthday. Paying tribute to the physio who he worked with at Brazilian club Corinthians, the sporting director wrote: "Birthday of this brother of mine that life gave me!

"Congrats brother, I love you!" There is no underestimating how big an impact Edu's exit will have on transfer strategy.

The duo have become a well-oiled machine in recent years and their signings have made the Gunners a force in the Premier League. It will be up to the Arsenal boardroom to appoint Edu's replacement quickly especially with the January transfer window just around the corner.
