Strictly's Nick Knowles shares update on injury as host airs concern

Send Push

A Strictly Come Dancing presenter couldn't help but show her concern for DIY SOS star Nick Knowles who sustained an arm injury.

Everyone's favourite dance competition returned to the BBC last week with a new class of celebrities welcomed to learn the art of Latin and ballroom dancing.

Among those was TV personality Nick Knowles who was partnered up with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk and it was clear to see from the beginning that the 62-year-old was excited to take part in the BBC series.

However, earlier this week, disaster struck as Nick ended up damaging his bicep while trying to change a car tyre, putting some doubt over his future on the show.

Thankfully, he hasn't had to pull out of the competition just yet and was ready to take on an American Smooth to Parklife.

Ahead of his time on the dance floor, presenter Claudia Winkleman couldn't help but show that she was concerned about his injury.

In between performances, she asked him: "Now I've got to ask, how is your arm?"

Chirpily, Nick replied: "It's good thank you very much. Getting stronger every day and my mate texted me just before the show and said 'you may only have one arm but you've got two left feet so you should be alright.'"

Everyone around him, including Claudia, started to laugh when she turned to his dance partner Luba and said: "And well done you for the brilliant adaptation, we cannot wait to see your dance."

Luba showed her appreciation for the comment as Nick mumbled how she had been "unbelievable".

When it actually came to them dancing the American Smooth, the judges were very happy with how he performed.

Craig Revel Horwood said that it was a "bit ploddy" but believes he has "potential" and saw it during the performance.

Shirley said she wasn't going to comment on his footwork but commented: "What you did for 16 hours is absolutely amazing", with the routine needing to be changed due to the injury.

And, as a result, Nick and Luba scored a very reasonable 21 points for their American Smooth.

Strictly Come Dancing is about to get serious though as one couple will be leaving the competition this weekend.

When the glitzy BBC dance show returned for the first time last week, no one was sent packing with the couples performing for the judges' scores alone.

However, this won't be the case this time around as the two couples with the fewest votes are going to be at risk of leaving the competition, with the final decision in the hands of the judges.

So who will leave everyone wanting more and who will be the first celebrity to make their exit in 2024?

The results are to be revealed tomorrow, Sunday, September 29, along with a performance by Ezra Collective featuring Yazmin Lacey.

Strictly Come Dancing continues every Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
