Strictly Come Dancing's Nick Knowles gets injury checked out as show future hangs in balance

Strictly Come Dancing star Nick Knowles has been spotted with his glamorous fiancée after getting another medical check-up due to an arm injury that fans fear could put his future on the dance show at risk.

The TV presenter, 62, was seen with Katie Dadzie after being checked out for a second opinion on his arm after damaging it while changing a tyre at the weekend. He was pictured wearing a t-shirt and a sling for his arm while Katie, 34, followed him behind.

Nick, who is paired with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk on Strictly, is now planning to train and rest ahead of the weekend, hoping that he will be able to perform on the dance floor. Earlier today, Nick revealed on Instagram that he had injured himself while changing a tyre on his car at the weekend.

He recorded a video wearing a makeshift slight, made from a blanket, and said: "Good morning, here's a little update from me at the start of week two @bbcstrictly rehearsals. As you can see my arm is in a sling and that's because my car broke down at the side of the motorway.

"I had my little boy in the car, so I wanted to change the tyre as quickly as possible. In the process of hurrying to get the wheel off, I managed to damage my shoulder and arm a little. I'm not sure how, but it's been quite painful."

He explained he was on his way to London's Harley Street to get a scan done and some "top medical advice" before telling fans he was "heading to training afterwards". He also confirmed he would see viewers on It Takes Two "later today" and promised fans to keep them updated "throughout the course of the day".

Nick admitted his injury "was not ideal" but said: "I'm convinced it's not something that's going to stop me dancing this weekend". Speaking to the Mirror, a source said: "He's currently seeking the appropriate medical care and would of course be seen by a Strictly physio before dancing – we are all very much hoping he is able to dance on Saturday."

Explaining his reason for wanting to take part in Strictly, Nick said he "wouldn't be able" to perform if he "left it any longer" - adding that a Strictly and DIY SOS collaboration which saw the programme's team build an all-ability drama and dance school in the North East also made him "beg" to go on the show. He said: said: "I'm so old, if I left it any longer I wouldn't be able to.

"I think this is my last chance physically to be able to do it, so that was a good reason. But because we did a Strictly and DIY SOS collaboration last year, and built a place, an all-ability drama dance school up in the North East, I then begged Anton [Du Beke] to get me on the show."

His professional partner Luba also revealed she had already danced with the Southall-born star on the set of the collaborative show. She said: "I basically danced with him and he really enjoyed it, and so he wanted to be a part of Strictly. It's wonderful, he's a very knowledgeable man, he's very strong as well. It's still the beginning, but I think we're going to be a great team."
