star Dani Carvajal is facing a four-match ban for his involvement in a furious incident with Arsenal's on Wednesday.
Injured right-back Carvajal was seen in the tunnel area as the teams left the pitch at half-time. The Spain international appeared to approach Saka and raised his hands as the England ace headed to the dressing room.
Carvajal put his hands on Saka's neck and that prompted an enraged response from the Arsenal forward, who retaliated by pushing back. Both sets of staff then got involved, with Ben White confronting Carvajal.
Saka made his way down the Santiago Bernabeu tunnel and was blameless for the incident. However, Marca revealed that Carvajal was unhappy because Saka took a Panenka penalty against Real Madrid.
Although Saka's effort was tame and saved by Thibaut Courtois, Carvajal viewed the move as 'disrespectful'. He therefore decided to approach Saka and made it clear how he felt about the incident.
But Carvajal's actions could come at a cost. As a guest in the stands and not part of the squad, Carvajal was not permitted to be in the technical area, so breached UEFA rules by heading there at half-time.
Carvajal could now face a UEFA ban similar to the one handed out to Xabi Alonso. The former Real Madrid midfielder ran from the stands and down to the touchline to celebrate their Champions League win final over Atletico Madrid in 2014.
Alonso was suspended for the final and then the UEFA Super Cup final against Sevilla at the start of the following season.
report that Carvajal, however, could be set for a longer suspension. They say the Spaniard is facing a possible four-game ban from UEFA matches.
Section 15 of UEFA's disciplinary regulations state that a one-match ban is handed for "taking part in a match when ineligible to play, if such a sanction is deemed appropriate".
It's added that players can be handed a further "suspension for three competitive matches or a specified period for assaulting another player or another person present at the match".
Carvajal could therefore get a four-game ban and that would add more woes for a Real Madrid side that were angered and frustrated after.
Carlo Ancelotti summed up Real Madrid's frustrations in his post-match press conference. He said: It's a disappointment to go out of the Champions League, it's normal to think so.
"It's the other side of football. There is the happy part, which has happened many times; and there is the sad part. We have to manage the sad part just as we manage the happy part.
"Now there are three competitions left and we have to be focused on LaLiga, the Copa (del Rey) final and the Club World Cup."
