Niall Horan has revealed his intention to step back from the spotlight for a while.

The 31-year-old pop star, who recently wrapped up his The Show tour, made the announcement during his final gig at the Movistar Arena in , telling his fans: "This stands from tomorrow onwards, you'll never find me. I'm gonna be hungover as f*** tomorrow! And I'm gonna disappear for a while. I'm gonna make you guys a brand new album and I will be back, I promise."

Niall, who shot to stardom as a member of alongside , Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik, previously described his current album as "more mature" than his past work.

In a chat with BANG Showbiz, he shared: "It's definitely the most different, the sound of it has matured a lot. It's kind of a conceptual album about the things in your life. The Show'' is a metaphor for life in this case, and all the spokes of the wheel that makeup your life experience."

There are whispers that One Direction might be performing at next year's Glastonbury Festival. Despite his worldwide fame, Niall confessed that he has never truly "got used" to the notion that he is recognised globally.

While in Toronto, Canada, for an intimate conversation with Entertainment Tonight, the star shared his bewilderment at fan fervour, admitting: "If you get used to the attention that comes with this job, there's something wrong with you. But it's crazy, isn't it? When you take a deep dive into it. It is nuts that on a cold, wet afternoon in Toronto they are all out there in their thousands. I heard they were all out there camping, I wouldn't recommend it next time. But thank you!" reports .

It comes after his former bandmate Liam spoke about Niall in a new social media video. Liam, who was with his girlfriend, said: "We're going to Argentina. One, because we have to, and two, because we want to, and three, because Niall Horan's playing down there and I think we might just go and say 'hello'."

Liam then confessed it's been some time since he last spoke with Niall, adding: "It's been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We've got a lot to talk about and I would like to square up a couple things with the boy. No bad vibes or nothing like that, but just, we need to talk."

The possible reunion was met with excitement on social media following Liam's video. Fans headed onto X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their hopes, with the outlet sharing some examples. "What do you mean Niall and Liam are in Argentina? They should organise a 1D reunion," one fan posted eagerly.

Another couldn't contain their emotions, exclaiming: "LIAM IS GOING TO ARGENTINA TO SEE NIALL OMG IM CRYING." "Liam is going to see Niall in Argentina. First Narry and now Niam on tour. It always warms my heart when the boys support each other," one fan gushed. Another chimed in, "Liam will be at Niall's show tomorrow!! NIIIAAAAMMMM REUNION".
