Naked Attraction's Anna Richardson has opened up about the shock she felt after receiving a recent health diagnosis, admitting it took time to "come to terms" with.

The 53-year-old presenter has opened up about her career shifts and the personal challenges she has faced, including her health and embracing her sexuality.

Anna, who fronts the popular Channel 4 show, revealed her struggles with fertility, detailing how she endured a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy, and was informed in her 30s that she was infertile.

Speaking to the Closer Magazine, Anna shared: "It was a real shock. I came to terms with it, but then you go through the menopause and your periods stop, there's this kind of realization that you can't have kids anyway."

She reflected on the emotional impact of reaching the end of her reproductive years, saying, "There's something sad about the end of the journey, but just because you haven't had your biological children, it doesn't mean you can't be a mother."

Anna also spoke about redefining family, stating: "You can create your family in any way you wish to, whether it's a blended family, adopting or fostering. I'm still exploring what I want that to look like."

Further discussing her views on ageing and sexuality, Anna expressed her feelings about middle-aged women being "overlooked" and firmly stated: "I will not be overlooked. This is also the age when women are exploring their sexuality more, whether that's being bisexual, a lesbian or dating a guy again."

Anna's remarks come ahead of a documentary about dementia, in which she discusses her family's experience with the disease. Her father Jim suffers from vascular dementia. The programme is set to air next month, but this isn't Anna's first time speaking out about the condition. In 2021, she shared her fears of developing dementia later in life with The Sun.

She confessed: "I really do fear not being cognitively capable. I see it in my Dad and I see it in my parent's friends. I just think, 'There by the grace of God'." The documentary, named Anna Richardson: Love, Loss and Dementia, will be broadcast on Wednesday October 2 at 10pm on Channel 4.
