Diane said: "I've got foundation on my carpet, tried all the carpet cleaner to no avail." Seeking help, she asked: "Can anyone suggest anything please?" Diane's post received numerous responses from Sophie Hinchfliffe's fans.

Many raved about a clever 95p solution to get rid of the mark. One person suggested: "Shaving foam." Another agreed, saying: "Dishwasher tablet or shaving foam." A third added: "Slightly dampen the area and apply shaving foam straight into the stain gently, rub it in with fingers or toothbrush then vaxx."

Shaving foam can be bought for as little as 95p from . While this product, likely already in your bathroom cabinet, seems to clean makeup stains easily, other Facebook users shared their own first-hand advice.

"Micellar water removes it first time," one individual suggested. Another chimed in: "Body Shop camomile cleansing butter it is the number one absolute fail safe for any makeup removal it's fantastic stuff xx."
