Lost cat travels 900 miles home after getting lost in national park

Owners of a cat who vanished on holiday in Yellowstone National Park have been stunned after their beloved pet turned up at home 900 miles away.

Feline Rayne Beau has left his family speechless after losing at least one of his nine lives - journeying across two states to come home. The adventurous puss had been brought to the Wyoming destination for the family camping trip back in June when he suddenly had a fright and ran off into nearby trees.

Owners Benny and Susanne Anguiano, who also bought the Rayne Beau's twin sister Starr Jasmyn on the trip, searched tirelessly for four days for the moggy before returning home to Salinas devastated. But Susanne's refusal to lose hope she would be reunited with her pet was rewarded when the couple received a phone call in August to say he had been picked up in Roseville.

Rayne Beau had been spotted wandering the streets of the city, with his microchip was scanned by the Society For The Prevention of Cruelty To Animals (SPCA) after he was found in his home state and brought to the shelter nearly 900 miles from where he vanished and only 200 miles from home.

Despite having lost 6lbs and his paws a little worse for wear, Rayne Beau was safe and well, with how he ended up in the northern California city a mystery. "I believe truly that he made that trek mostly on his own," Susanne said.

"His paws were really beat up. Lost 40% of his body weight, had really low protein levels because of inadequate nutrition. So, he was not cared for." The family are now hoping someone may be able to fill in the gaps of Rayne Beau's journey.

With his wanderlust likely now satisfied, Rayne Beau has been fitted with a GPS global tracker to curb any future adventures. Meanwhile owners Susanne and Benny have vowed to instead camp in their driveway before hitting the road with their cats again.
