Here is what the Menendez brothers look like now 35 years after murdering parents

At the time of their arrest for the murder of their parents, were considered the poster boys of Beverly Hills.

With their designer clothes, fast cars and Rolex watches, the brothers didn't struggle to attract the ladies as they also sported toned physiques and smartly styled brunette hair. But now, after being sentenced to life imprisonment following their conviction of murdering their parents in 1989, the brothers couldn't look further away from their playboy appearance 35 years ago.

Both men now sport an older look, facially. While Erik has maintained a full head of hair, his brother Lyle is completely bald. However, considering the pair have spent more than three decades locked up in prison, they remarkably looked relatively upbeat in their prison photos. Both men are seen smiling broadly for the camera while wearing blue prison attire.

At the time of the murder of Jose and Kitty Menendez, who were shot dead at the family home in LA, the brothers decided to go on a £500,000 shopping spree after being granted their inheritance. They were then sentenced to life in prison with no possibility of parole. But 34 years on, it seems new evidence could allow the pair to be released.

Their dad was shot six times while their mum was shot ten times. When the police and ambulance services arrived at the scene, Lyle and Erik claimed they returned to their Beverly Hills home, to find their parents dead. But their downfall came after they confessed to the crime to their psychiatrist in 1990, which was recorded on tape.

Prosecutors claimed the murder was down to greed, while the brothers' defence lawyers said they feared their father would kill them following years of sexual, physical and psychological abuse. Now, on the back of viral TikTok videos and who has sided with the brothers, their case has been looked at once again.

New evidence emerged which include a letter written by Erik before the killings, that back up the brothers claims of abuse. There has also been an allegation made stating that Jose Menendez sexually abused a member of the boy band Menudo. And so now, both Lyle and Erik may face a retrial which could lead to their release.

George Gascón, the Los Angeles County district attorney said: "After a very careful review of all the arguments made … I came to a place where I believe that, under the law, resentencing is appropriate and I’m going to recommend that to a court tomorrow. I do believe the brothers were subjected to a tremendous amount of dysfunction in the home, and molestation. They have been in prison for nearly 35 years. I believe that they have paid their debt to society."
