Dragons' Den's Sara Davies backs new qualification to stop kids wasting time on boring subjects

Sara Davies has backed T-levels, saying the qualification could put an end to kids wasting years studying subjects that do not interest them.

The star, 40, is championing the new craft and design T-level. Launched last month it is equal to three A-levels.
She said as both a parent of two children and an employer, the introduction of the new qualification was “music to her ears”, adding: “Schools put all of the emphasis on maths, science and English, they never emphasise subjects like art and design and .

“But there are fantastic careers available in those areas. So many waste years doing A-levels in subjects they don’t enjoy. These courses allow them to do something practical and useful, and learn skills they would otherwise have to learn on the job.One sure fire way to help students succeed at school is to have them doing something they are passionate about.”

T-levels enable teenagers to bolster their CVs with 45 days of industry experience and build contacts before they are 18.
Other subjects include accounting, animal care, catering and onsite construction. Sara is backing a campaign by The Gatsby Charitable Foundation, championing the qualifications. Singer , 45, who is promoting the media, broadcast and production T-level, said: “Getting your foot in the door has always been challenging, which is why I think the new T-level is brilliant.”
