A British trainer is seeking to claim his third victory in the £3.6 million Breeders’ Cup Turf with a horse who defeated the winner of the Champion Stakes.

The Brian Meehan-trained Jayarebe had Anmaat, the 40-1 winner of the Ascot showpiece, back down in fifth please when he landed his latest success in the Prix Dollar on Arc weekend.

And the form earned a significant boost when Anmaat secured a surprise win over a field including Calandagan and Economics on British Champions Day.

Jayarebe runs in the ownership of Iraj Parvizi who owned Meehan’s 2010 Breeders’ Cup Turf winner Dangerous Midge, the trainer’s second success in the race following the victory of Red Rocks in 2006.

rode those two winners but Sean Levey will keep the mount at Del Mar where he will have his second Breeders’ Cup mount.

Meehan said, "We were delighted with Jayarebe – he’s been in great form since winning in France. He works tomorrow and flies out early Saturday morning. Sean Levey will ride him.”

The three-year-old son of Zoffany has shown high-level form throughout the season, winning the Hampton Court Stakes at before finishing second to Economics in the Group 2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano at Deauville.

"The form of the Prix Dollar has really been boosted, and we’re delighted with him heading into the Breeders' Cup," Meehan added. "We've been fortunate to have great success at the Breeders’ Cup in the past and we’re looking forward to it.”

"We believe the mile-and-a-half trip in America will suit him perfectly. It’s brilliant to have Sean on board. He knows the colt very well and he’s riding so well at the moment.”

Jayarabe, a 7-1 chance with William Hill, will take on last year’s race winner, Godolphin’s Rebel’s Romance, who is one of four defending champions entered at the November 1-2 meeting.

The other returning star from Britain is the Mick Appleby-trained Big Evs who will tackle the Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint under Tom Marquand.

Marquand will also partner stablemate Big Mojo for the first time, taking over from Silvestre de Sousa, in the Juvenile Turf Sprint, the race won by Big Evs 12 months ago.

Big Evs was Marquand’s first and only Breeders’ Cup mount last year but he will be much in demand this year.

As well as riding top filly Porta Fortuna in the Mile, he has also been booked for The Waco Kid in the Juvenile Turf in which trainer Hugo Palmer’s other challenger Seagulls Eleven will be the mount of Luis Saez.
