BBC Escape to the Country host stunned as buyer rejects 'beautiful' property for one reason

An Escape To The Country hopeful rejected a property due to an unforgivable issue.

Kicki, originally from Sweden, was looking to relocate to the West Sussex countryside from her current home in Woking, Surrey. She revealed that following a health scare five years prior, she has been more focused on her own wellbeing.

She was accompanied on the show by her friend of nearly 30 years, who she believed would help "balance" her decision-making process. Kicki and Lisa then met with presenter Alistair Appleton.

The duo visited Nyewood in West Sussex to view the second property, with Kicki keeping her thoughts close to her chest. When asked for her opinion, she eventually confessed: "The neighbours are a bit close. The road is a bit close. The house looks fascinating and beautiful," as Alistair explained his reason for showing them the unique property.

The property had undergone renovations over recent years, boasting a high-quality finish that impressed Kicki, particularly the open plan layout. The house featured an extension and a stunning hourglass-shaped kitchen diner, reports .

"It's very unusual," they commented, admiring the blend of old and new in the design. "As a kitchen diner you can't beat it, I feel very calm in here," she expressed while touring the property.

As they explored, the couple were impressed by the home's rustic charm, with its five bedrooms, three bathrooms (two being en suite), the appeal of exposed brickwork, high-quality woodwork, and an expansive garden.

Kiki gave her honest opinion after the viewing: "The house is beautifully done up. I don't think I can forgive the neighbours being so close. It's not what I'm looking for at the moment. I'm sorry," despite estimating the value at a cool £945,000.

Listed for £800,000, Kiki still felt the proximity to neighbours was a deal-breaker, even though the price was well under her £950,000 budget.

Subsequently, Kiki confessed to having her heart set on a barn conversion and pondered a second visit to really gauge her willingness to compromise for that indescribable cosy vibe.

"That's very important! I will go back and visit the house and do a little bit of meditation in my mind when I go home and if the feeling is there, I have to go back and feel it again," she told Alistair, hinting at potential next steps.
