Alan Shearer has celebrated his daughter Hollie getting engaged to England rugby international Joe Marchant.
The legend’s daughter Hollie, 29, to Marchant in a social media post on Friday. The couple have been dating since January 2022 and moved to Paris last year after Marchant joined French Top 14 club Stade Francais from Harlequins.
The pair have clearly settled well in their new surroundings, with Shearer and Marchant posing in front of the Eiffel Tower to share a picture of the engagement ring. Writing on , singer Shearer said: 'BEST DAY EVER!! (ring emoji) Got to say yes to my favourite person (heart emoji)."
Overjoyed by his daughter’s news, all-time goalscorer responded with a string of heart-eyes and clapping hands emojis. Judging by what the former England captain has said about the rugby star in the past, the 54-year-old pundit seems to enjoy having Marchant as part of the Shearer family.

Hollie was born when Shearer was a prolific striker in the top flight and grew up watching her dad score for his boyhood club . Despite his daughter’s footballing background, Shearer was glad that his daughter had swerved the sport in terms of finding a partner.
When previously asked for his thoughts on Hollie dating Marchant, Shearer quipped: "I’m just glad it’s not a footballer."
Last summer, the couple went on holiday to and Marchant shared a series of snaps from their time on Naxos Island - but it was the rugby player’s poolside attire that caught Shaearer’s eye. Taking aim at Marchant’s swimming trunks, Shearer joked: “WTF are the smugglers you have on?”
One of Shearer's three children, Hollie is a singer and also works as a fashion influencer. Her cover of Will Young’s hit ‘Leave Right Now’ boasts more than a million streams on Spotify.
Marchant, 28, played more than 150 games for Quins and won the Premiership in 2021 before moving to France. On the international stage, the centre has earned 27 England caps and was part of the squad that finished third at the 2023 World Cup.
Marchant’s future father-in-law will hope that Newcastle can cap off his celebratory weekend with a win over . Eddie Howe’s side travel to the City Ground on Sunday and will look to build on last weekend’s victory against .
